Jobs

Accept employment, meet requirements, and start server-timed work shifts.

Overview

Jobs are character-local employment. Applying selects an occupation; starting a shift creates a timed Job activity. A successful completion awards shared account Bucks and character XP exactly once.

State Jobs

These four jobs are exclusive to Laborers. They require no professional Tool.

  • State Reconstruction Labor Corps — 2-Minute Shift; 3 Bucks; 4 XP; 2 Energy
  • State Supply Yard — 5-Minute Shift; 6 Bucks; 7 XP; 3 Energy
  • Road Maintenance Crew — 10-Minute Shift; 10 Bucks; 11 XP; 4 Energy
  • Railway Reconstruction Crew — 20-Minute Shift; 18 Bucks; 18 XP; 6 Energy

Citizen Jobs

These jobs are exclusive to Citizen status and require a valid residence, and the matching operational Tool in that character's personal Inventory.

  • Carpentry Hand — 15-Minute Shift; 10 Bucks; 12 XP; 5 Energy; requires Carpenter's Hammer
  • Masonry Hand — 30-Minute Shift; 22 Bucks; 25 XP; 8 Energy; requires Mason's Trowel
  • Railway Maintenance Hand — 60-Minute Shift; 48 Bucks; 52 XP; 12 Energy; requires Spike Hammer
  • Workshop Assistant — 2-Hour Shift; 105 Bucks; 110 XP; 20 Energy; requires Workman's Tool Kit

Starting and Completing

A shift starts only after status, residence where applicable, Tool, activity-channel, and Energy checks succeed. Energy is charged at start. Production duration continues on server time while offline. Completion pays once, grants XP, records work history, and wears the bound Tool once for applicable Citizen work.

Activity Channels

A character may have one current Job activity while also studying and managing Gardening. A second Job shift cannot overlap the current Job channel.

Quitting and Reapplying

Quitting employment is guarded and does not erase completed history. The character may apply again when eligible. Finishing a shift does not itself quit the occupation. Promotion ends employment when the new status is ineligible. Legacy incompatible active shifts are cancelled without new rewards; completed earnings and history are preserved.

Promotion Progress

Laborer work contributes completed shifts, lifetime employment earnings, XP, and the Citizen promotion record. Fifteen standard progression steps reach Level 2 and thirty reach Level 3 under the current XP scale, though actual job XP awards differ by job.

Independent life and menus

Town remains visible for every rank. Citizen unlocks lawful contracts, free safe practice, lessons, clinic and repairs; no equipment purchase is needed to begin. Skilled Worker and every higher rank can operate licensed workshops and pursue criminal Town opportunities. Salaried Laborer and Citizen jobs end at this stage. Career > Independent Work becomes your starting page for workshops, contracts and training. Business contains your trade; Town contains districts, NPC contracts, training, encounters and your story. Character retains Profile, Inventory, Storage, Provisions and the existing Items Worn slots.
