Partially implemented
Social Status
Review rank progression, active requirements, civic registration, and planned higher-rank scope.

Overview
Social Status is a sequential rank. You may only advance to the next rank, and the server checks every currently enforced requirement and fee before committing a promotion.
Current Rank Path
- 1. Laborer — current working rank
- 2. Citizen — current working rank. Requirements: Character Level 1; Collect one paid shift; Employment earnings; Civic Registration; Promotion fee — 1 Bucks; No outstanding State debt

Laborer to Citizen
Citizen is fully implemented. A Laborer needs Level 3, five completed shifts including each of the four Laborer State jobs, 30 lifetime Bucks earned through employment, completed Civic Registration, 10 available Bucks for the fee, no active shift, and no State debt.
Civic Registration
After the other registration gates are met and no job shift is active, a Laborer may begin the 10-minute Civic Registration. Authoritative completion creates a permanent Dunmore registry number and timestamp. Registration itself does not promote the character; the separate Citizen promotion action and fee remain required.
Citizen to Skilled Worker
The current enforced requirements are Citizen status, General Studies Level 10, Character Level 5, 250 available Bucks, and no State debt. Finish any active work shift before promotion. Promotion ends Citizen employment. Skilled Worker and higher ranks cannot take or continue Jobs. Town is always visible. Citizen opens lawful Town contracts, combat training and care. Skilled Worker opens independent workshops and criminal opportunities; lawful Town remains available. Begin at Business > City Hall; Career now shows Independent Work. Higher-rank corporate systems remain future work.
Higher Ranks
Gentleperson through Elite exist in the hierarchy, artwork, progression projection, and Gardening capacity rules, but their economic capabilities are incomplete. Requirements labelled as future are shown for transparency and are not enforced as finished gameplay. Elite is the maximum rank.
Important Notes
- Promotion fees use the account's on-hand Bucks.
- Promotion is atomic: a failed requirement or save cannot partially charge or advance the character.
- Existing characters are never reordered or promoted by viewing this page.
How Promotion Works
- Open Character -> Social Status with the intended character active.
- Select the next rank and inspect every enforced requirement.
- Complete missing work, civic, Education, level, debt, or fee requirements.
- Promote only when the panel confirms eligibility; the transaction advances one rank and charges once.
Independent life and menus
Town remains visible for every rank. Citizen unlocks lawful contracts, free safe practice, lessons, clinic and repairs; no equipment purchase is needed to begin. Skilled Worker and every higher rank can operate licensed workshops and pursue criminal Town opportunities. Salaried Laborer and Citizen jobs end at this stage. Career > Independent Work becomes your starting page for workshops, contracts and training. Business contains your trade; Town contains districts, NPC contracts, training, encounters and your story. Character retains Profile, Inventory, Storage, Provisions and the existing Items Worn slots.
City Hall letter: each character; starter voucher: once per account
Every character who reaches Skilled Worker can open their own letter at Business > City Hall. Open City Hall from that character's Command Center livelihood choices, or use PLAY AS for focused play, then read the letter to start their independent story. Reading one character's letter does not accept another character's letter. You do not need to wait for a header Events notification.
- Personal progress: letter acceptance, story chapters, choices, title, Honor, Notoriety, Heat, injuries, encounters and weapon disciplines belong to the character.
- Shared resources: businesses, wallet, bank, Storage and Household Provisions belong to the account. Each workshop has one responsible character.
- The starter voucher is granted once per account, to the first Small Mill or Leather Workshop license issued under the program. It is assigned when that license is issued. Reading more letters or switching characters does not renew it.
- The voucher covers that license, workshop setup, initial materials, 10 Household Provisions and the operating cost of the first single-run batch. Employee wages are still payable. The first 24 hours of rent are included when any workshop opens.
- Other characters can play their own story and operate workshops, but their licenses and setup are paid normally after the account voucher has been claimed.
